There’s nothing like learning from the best. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Blur studios for an exclusive case study that shares the techniques used to create the “Road through the Bayou” scenes featured in the trailer for Mafia III.

In this written case study and 20 minute video tutorial you’ll learn how Blur created a fully parametric road and vegetation setup, that could be easily re-configured to create the illusion of miles of swamp environment.

Several layers of Forest Objects with unique falloff curves were created to cover the road with thousands of pebbles, small stones, leaves and debris , as well as the grass, dense foliage and trees that flank it on both sides. Amazing all of this is editable using a single spline!
