Forest Pack Pro 3.3.6 beta
« on: November 12, 2010, 09:21:42 PM »
Note: Beta versions include new features and fixes, but a beta version is NOT the final version of the product and therefore we not guarantee an absence of errors that may disrupt the computer's operation and/or result in data loss. Use it always at your own risk.

Forest Pack Pro 3.3.6b

- New display mode: Points-Cloud

    * This ultra-fast mode lets you to see a 3D preview of the plants
    * Adjustable density of points
    * Color by ID or from Materials
    * See Random Tint in real-time
    * Animation supported

- Display->Simplification Level for viewport is replaced by a Max.Items parameter. The density of items on screen is adjusted on the fly by this value
- Improved scattering speed when using Camera clipping
- VRay 2.0 beta support

Fixes

- The Surface->Auto feature now works properly with animated surfaces
- Collision info in Forest Stats window shows correct results
- The current distribution is preserved when changing to Custom Edit mode
- Empty meshes were triggering an error when used with Collisions

Forest Pack Pro 3.3.5b

New features

- Rotate and Scale maps
- Random translation on Z axis
- Boundary checking with Area splines can work in two modes: 'Point', checking only the item's position, or 'Size', using the item's width and its collision radius
- Presets can be exported and imported from external files
- Auto check for updates. By default, once a week or checking manually from the General rollout.
- A special version of Forest 2.4 has been included for compatibility with old scenes. You can select it as optional module in the setup program

Fixes and changes

- The "Prevent Self-Shadow" feature was not working well in Mental Ray. This could potentially create flickering shadow problems
- Presets list allows to use longer descriptions

Licensing

- The software is now less intrusive if there is not an active license, allowing you to work with the scene, but not edit or render Forest Pro objects

Forest Pack Pro 3.3.4b

- Fixed crashing bug when loading scenes with XRef objects

Forest Pack Pro 3.3.3b

- Solved crashing bug with lost XRef references
- Clear exclude button and Random translation work properly
- All items that don't intersect with a surface are discarded
- Fixed issues with transparent and wireframe modes

Forest Pack Pro 3.3.2b

- Nesting level is considered when evaluating the area splines. Nested include splines are used as exclusion zones and viceversa
- Boundary checking is done using the item's width and its collision radius, not only the pivot point as before
- License errors don't longer clear the items in Custom Edit mode

Surface

- Multiple surfaces support
- In absence of area splines, the surfaces are used as scattering areas
- Density and scale falloff curves by altitude. The curve is applied in the range defined by the Top and Bottom paramerters (X=0 is Bottom, X=1 is Top)
- Altitude for limits and falloff is computed in Forest local coordinates, instead Surface coords. This mode is more suitable when multiple surfaces are used
- Overlapping of items at different heights is allowed in Generate mode (using multiple surfaces only)
- All "Get UVW form Surface" parameters have been removed. To disable UVW mapping from surface, set map channel to 0
- Fixed updating issues with animated surfaces

Display

- Improved redrawing speed
- Added parameter to adjust items opacity
- Added Wireframe display mode
- New proxy models: Thin Box and Plant

Network licensing
 (License Server 1.09 required)

- Fixed winsocks 10060 error and server random hangup
- Added support for routed WAN and VPN connections
- Added support for lost connection recovery
- Improved response time and protocol latency
- Logs uses computer's local timezone instead GMT
