A bug in the Microsoft Redistributable libraries v.14.50 may cause a crash in Forest Pack, RailClone and other 3DS Max plugins.
The problem is being investigated by Microsoft, and we hope an update is available shortly.

Unfortunately we cannot fix the problem from our side, because it seems the code which triggers the bug may be also present in the 3DS Max code itself.

If you are curious, the problem is described in detail in the Microsoft forums (very technical).

Until then, you can fix it copying the attached DLL (vcomp140.dll) in the 3DS Max root folder.

Update: Microsoft has released an update with this bug fixed. To resolve the issue, download the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (version 14.50.35719) and install.
If you copied the vcomp140.dll file in the 3DS Max root folder (previous workaround), delete it once installed the Redistributable.

Autodesk has published an article about this issue, with the same solution as the suggested by us.
