Wind turbines - animation doesn't work
« on: June 22, 2015, 05:14:03 PM »
I am trying to make an animation of wind turbines at sea. I've created a forest with the blades of a turbine as custom object. The blades are an object imported from Autocad.

I've animated the blades to rotate 360 degrees. In the animation rollout I've checked "follow geometry"; I've also unchecked "animate only at render time."

But the blades in the forest won't move.

Any ideas what could be the reason?

thanks in advance

Hi,

Not sure, how the animation is done, but I would suggest you to apply to your Custom Object the XForm modifier and animate that (instead of animating Position/Rotation/Scale controller of the Custom Object as Forest takes control over it during scattering calculation).

Hope that helps.

Best regards,

That certainly helps! I've applied the X-form modifier en now my turbines are rotating. Thanks!
