rendering forest pack lite with backburner
« on: November 14, 2012, 11:48:47 AM »
hey all,
i have a problem, hopefully someone encountered it and solved it in the past..
i try to render a scene with forest pack stuff in it on other computers in the studio using backburner.
it wouldn't render the forest parts. simply ignore them at the render.
i installed the plugin on the slave computers.
what else am i missing?

thank's.
Guy.

Please, try a test render scattering a basic object (as a teapot) and tell me the result.

There are not specific requirements for Forest and Backburner. Basically, the plugin must be installed and the texture and objects (as proxies or XRefs), must be visible by the render nodes.

Do you use Mental Ray or VRay ?

hey,
i am using Vray,
i think figured it out, i did the teapot test you suggested,
and lured 2 things.
1- the distribution maps path was not properly defined as a network path, once i fixed it the teapots rendered fine.
2- my slave computer has less memory and i guess that is a problem in my bigger scene. i lowered the trees density and they did render.

soon the slave computer will be upgraded from 8 to 16 GB memory and then i'll try again.

thank's
Guy.

The first time the plugin is used in a render node, Forest adds the texture/distribution paths automatically. Probably this procedure failed for some reason.

Anyway, i'm glad the problem is solved.
