Mental Ray, Exposure and opacity
« on: August 06, 2011, 11:55:40 PM »
I am pretty sure I have solved this before but I can't recall how. When I render FP trees or anything with opacity maps for that latter, against the environment I get pure white instead of the proper opacity maps.. Against geometry it looks fine but when rendering anything where the 2D planes are against the environment I get just pure white..

Any ideas?

Thanks again!

Are you using fog ? If so, please try enabling the "Fog parameters->Exponential" option.

Not using Fog, But I am using Daylight System with mr_Sun and mr_Sky. As I recall though this happens with MR anytime you have a plane with opacity map against the environment BKG and no geometry..

I believe it has to do with turning on "Process Background and Environment Maps" in the exposure controls.  Enabling that fixes the opacity problem. D'oh.. I keep forgetting that.
