Thank you Itoo!

Just looked at the 3.6 update. Looks like you've expanded the FP Lite options for us lowly Lite users. Much appreciated!

Thank you!

Is there a doc on the easiest way to propagate the FPLite plugin and necessary support files out to my XP64 render farm? Or is a complete install necessary on each machine?

And do I have to physically un-install existing versions prior to installing new versions?

Yes, you can copy the files manually to the render nodes. The files used by the plugin are described here (see Network Rendering section):

http://www.itoosoft.com/forestpack/reference/install.php

It is not needed to uninstall the existing versions, the setup program overwrites the files and registry keys.

Thanks for the render farm info. Where does HQ Catalogs fit into the render farm scenario? Before I do this..

Oh I see.. not needed on the render nodes..

I do have on other question..

Originally I set my map paths to a network location for all forest textures. I set the render farm to point to those .. but my workstation kept asking me if I wanted to automatically set the Forest Paths in Max. Even though I did have a set of paths that pointed to the network.

thanks..

The HQ Catalogs only ask you to install the maps paths for the local workstation when you use the library interactively, for network rendering you can run one time the library on the node to setup the maps or copy all /maps to a shared map directory on your network.

For forest textures, it is a similar case, when you run forest will ask you to add maps maps to the map search list. This question it is asked only once time, so you can skip it and configure your shared maps by hand.

As additional info to the previous post:

Forest checks if the local texture folder (C:\Program Files\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\maps) is added to the map path, but it doesn't verity if the textures are available from other paths.

To avoid the warning message, you can leave the local path in the configuration, or disable the path checking with the following registry variable:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro]
"CheckTexturePath"=dword:00000000
