unable to load FShader3.dll error - SOLVED
« on: May 17, 2011, 08:12:50 PM »
I get this error when I use DBR to render using Mental ray from Max Design 2011.
The error only shows up from one of my hosts/nodes.

This node is XP64, but has the OS and Max installed on a different partition lettered as H:\
I just removed and reinstalled FLite on that machine.

I still get the error 191007: cannot load ..\shaders_autoload\mentalray\shaders/FShader3.dll The specified procedure could not be found.
and then 191012: Unable to load file: FShader3.dll

The scene continues to render anyway, and that host/node still contributes horsepower. (I'm not using the FLite plugin at this time, but anticipate a project with it soon).

It's an intel Quad, 4GB ram.

I've verified that the .dll file and the accompanying .mi file are where they should be (according to the post from a couple months ago regarding crashing/hanging)
I've got the mentalimages folder zipped and uploaded, for anyone to dissect. (PM me).

Please, trying copyng the <3dsmax_installdir>\dbghelp.dll file to the <3dsmax_installdir>\mentalimages\satellite directory.

This is a problem exclusive of Max 2011 running in versions before to Vista (Windows XP, Server 2003). By some reason Max cannot load the mental ray shaders that are linked with the Max libraries under this specific configuration.

Autodesk is already informed, but i don't know if they will work on a fix, since it's a minor issue that affects only to XP / 2003. Anyways, the workaround works fine.
