Cant get enough density
« on: September 03, 2011, 01:04:27 AM »
I'm trying to distribute a grass mesh about a surface and I can't get the mesh dense enough.  I'm using the full distribution map  and as I  change the density units, I get the max density limit reached warning. The surface is very large, about an acre or so and the grass meshes are about 12" in diameter. any suggestions would be great. thanks.

The grass density in the viewport is not real, it is limited by the Display->Viewport->Max Items value. For this scene a distribution map's size of about 1000 inches should be enough.

Please, try a render using a distribution map scale of 1000". You also would set a higher value for Display->Max Items (as 200K items or more) to see the result in the viewport.

If that helps, i have attached a grass scene using a similar setup (Max 9, VRay).

Just tried it and it worked great with a density of about 500". Thanks.
