Title: 4 identical forests on 4 different surfaces
Post by: in3des on February 19, 2020, 01:11:07 PM
Hi,
One small question - hope there is some quick solution (without wiring many parameters manually).
I have 4 different surfaces - need to populate 4 forests on top of those.
Ideally each forest should be an instance but targeted to a different surface, so if I change any option (density, scale, etc.) all changes spread instantly to every surface.
Thanks!

I think I would need some parent forest object so settings affect all other child objects. (if that possible)

quick solution is to add all those surfaces to to the surfaces list in Surfaces rollout:

well... that was not exactly what I'm trying to solve )) sorry for long explanation
another case - 4 surface instances + 4 cameras (some kind of a setup)
forest generated elements must be 100% same on each surface - so it looks 100% identical if render those 4 cameras

quick example
2 plane instances
I need forest elements on plane2 look same as on plane1
and make settings changes in one place, so they affect both planes

Then wiring it is.

Thanks for help! :)

And don't forget to assign same relative to surface origin for all ForestPack objects :

didn't know about that.

potentially very cool script for multiple wiring...  ???
but it's too old and doesn't work (also tested for very simple objects)
