Adding New item from library - issues
« on: February 01, 2016, 04:09:11 PM »
Hi,

Maybe I am doing something wrong but why when I add a new item from the library, does Forest Pack scatter millions of templates across my scene, usually crashing my file?

Example: I have a large lawn created as I want it. I then disable it and try to add some leaves, Forest Pack then uses my very dense distribution map to copy millions of planes or sometimes a duplicate of my grass and the scene grinds to a halt.

Is there another/better way to add new items without this happening?

Thanks

Hi,

The Distribution Map settings is used for all items in the Geometry list. You should create a new Forest object(s) for those objects, which Density should be different.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Michael,

It does help - I guessed I was doing something wrong and now I know ;)

So to be clear, if I wanted to use multiple types of object I am best using a new Forest to make life easier?

Thanks again

Hi,

You're welcome. Usually, it's the easiest way. You may find also the possibility "To override the distribution map used in an individual area" very useful in some situations. This allows you adjust Scale / Threshold values or even use a different Distribution Map for that Area. By using multiple Areas in combination with the Override Dist. Map feature you can handle those within the same Forest object.

Best regards,
