Adding new objet library
« on: November 03, 2021, 06:38:12 PM »
Hi, when i create a new forest and i select an object from my library works fine, but when i try to add a new object to my geometry list it doesnt work. It does work when i select various objects at the time but not a single one.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, once added the item, you must pick the source object from scene.
In latest Forest versions, "picking" mode is enabled by default. If not, click the button just below "Custom Object" to enable it.

This is intentional, because not always you may want to add a "Custom Object", but also a "Template", or even the "Disabled" option.

Hi, my problem is not picking up an object from the scene, my problem is that if i select an object from my personal libraries on the forest pack library it doesnt add to the list.

For example: if i choose 2 different plants together from the library they add on without problem. But if after i added them i try to add 1 other plant it doesnt work.

Hi,

If you add a single plant to the list from the library it will replace the plant for the item you have selected in the geometry list. If you add 2 or more plants it will append them to the end of the list. Therefore to add another single plant:

1. Press the plus button to add a new item. (This is the important part).
2. Open the library and choose your new object to import. Note that there are two types of objects in the library, 3D models which will import a single object, and presets which include multiple objects plus the settings used to scatter them. Be sure to choose 3D models if you don't want to overwrite your existing selections.
3. Click Load Selected.

That should be it. The important thing here is that you need to add a new item before opening the library if you are adding a single object.

I hope that helps,
Paul
