Hi,

Yes, the Forest Pack plug-in supports any format that can generate a mesh (can be animated) in 3ds Max (including Alembic and others).

The Playback Type should be set to Original Range within the Alembic Object and the first frame has to contain some geometry, so Forest Pack can generate properly the information needed for its evaluations.

Just let me mention, that a time ago, there was an issue reported with the VRayProxy object (linked to the way how the Alembic format is supported) and depending on the V-Ray version used, there might be differences in its support. To avoid similar troubles, I would suggest you load it into your scene as an Alembic Object (unless there is a special reason for using the VRayProxy object to import it).

Best regards,
