:Not sure if this is in the correct section:
Ive been giving the animation control some thought over the last few weeks and would like to share my thoughts in a hope it may be something you could implement in the future.
could the custom object animation offset be controlled by a map.
so that the length of the animation cycle was driven by the range of black to white. eg.. black = first frame of animation, white = last frame. (the rest is interpolated from the animation curves)
This way you could create eddies of wind travelling through a field of grass or flowers.
Heres my rough example..
create a blade of grass..
apply a bend modifier and bend it a little,
then animate it bending over more.. but not back.
Use Forest to make a field..
Use a large noise map to control the forest animation.
When the noise map is animated along an axis (or animated however) the grass will bend back and forth based on the greyscale of the noise map.. it could create the illusion of wind currents of higher and lower strength moving along.
Just a thought. ???

This suggestion was already in the wishlist. Probably we will add to the next version.
