Title: Areas & surfaces
Post by: Macker on August 13, 2019, 11:52:37 AM
Hi guys,

I've got a large site with some shots that need to be comped in to footage, and others not.

I'm using forest pro to scatter trees/bushes both within the site, and around the site over a google map. Some of these shots (for compositing purposes) require the google map to be turned off, however this leaves the trees/bushes there still appearing to float in mid air.

Is there a solution to this short of creating separate forest objects for inside/outside of the site?

Hi.
This can be done in multiple ways.
Simplest- to use
Areas rollout -> Surf.Mat.ID limits:
if You set google maps material id=2 then leave only "1" and ForestPack wont generate Google maps Trees:

Thanks Rokas, but I don't see how I can toggle this on and off for different camera views..?

You can adjust the ForestPack settings/ hide plane and submit scene for BackBurner.

Alternatively You can use standard 3ds max scene management options, if You want to set up scene for 3ds max Batch rendering:
You will have to have two forest objects and set up some scene states:
1. Hide google plane and forest object for that plane in one scene state
2. Unhide google plane and its forest object in another scene state.
