Missing User's Libraries
« on: March 23, 2022, 07:50:08 PM »
Hi all!

After updating to the latest version this morning (7.3.1), when I open my Library Browser, there was only "Forest Library"...all my User Libraries, presets, and 3rd party libraries (like Laubwerk) were gone! I searched around a bunch online for answers. I looked in the default location for the user library (C:\Users\j<username>\Documents\Forest Pack\libs) and that folder was missing, and there was no registry key shown for that either. I created the folder and the registry key to no avail. The Library Path shows up correctly (due to the registry key), but it doesn't display in the browser (see screenshot). I downloaded the latest pack 1 of Laubwerk and installed it, and that brought back the Laubwerk folder, including all the other Laubwerk volumes.

Any idea what happened? Any chance my libraries and presets are still sitting somewhere on my system? I checked my online Backblaze backup, and for some reason the Itoo folder isn't being backed up :-/

You insights are appreciated (while I spend the rest of the day rebuilding libraries so I can finish this deadline!)
Cheers,
John

Hi John,

I'm sorry to hear, you're facing these troubles. Might be, that these were stored at some other location? For example, in the case of Laubwerk libraries, these are by default stored under C:\Program Files\Laubwerk\Plants for Forest Pack (though in this case, the installer should add the corresponding path automatically - reinstalling should do the trick). Once you find these, from the 3ds Max UI, the path can be added from File - Preferences... > Library Browser Options > Library Paths. I hope that helps.

Best regards,
