Problem opening old scene
« on: July 19, 2014, 12:52:48 PM »
Hi, I am strugging to open an old scene and have narrowed it down to the forest objects in the scene (through merging things one by one)

I have a feeling this might have happened before and could have been to do with paths to proxies??

any ideas on what i could try to get it to open?

thanks

Peter

What is the result merging the proxies without the Forest objects ? And Forest without the proxies ?

it is actually due to the terrain, which presumably forest no longer likes. I merged in the terrain, converted to editable poly, and then merged in the other bits and it worked ok.

something must have happened with forest pro in the meantime which means it no longer likes my geometry

so now the question is.. how can i recover my scene settings?

You would try this:

1) Merge one of the Forest objects in an empty scene.
2) Select it and run $.savedversion in Maxscript listener. That will give you the Forest version which scene was created.
3) Get and install that release from User Panel->Previous versions.
4) Try to open the scene with that version. If it works, collapse the surface to mesh and save.
5) Reinstall the latest Forest update and try.

If you send us the surface to support@itoosoft.com, we also would check what is the problem exactly.
