Cant use Map or Probability map
« on: January 20, 2020, 06:34:31 PM »
Hi all
I would like to drive the scale of the distributed geometry with a Map but couldnt achieve it.
I tried assigning a gradient ramp or a bitmap in the Transform>Scale>Map slot of my ForestPack object
but the scale doesnt change at all.

Then I tried to use the Probability curve without any more success.

What am I missing ???

You need to enable transform, Add map and enable its usage:

Hope this helps. If you still have trouble, would You please attach Your file, so we can troubleshoot it for You ?

Thanks Rokas,
I found my mistake : I was using a Spline-based Forest.
Using maps works only with surface-based Forest (because of UV I guess).

But I still cant figure how ¨Probability Maps work.

You forgot to plug the map itself. not sure which one You want.
It is easier to get the hang of how it works using bitmaps, not procedural. As scale in viewport/render do not match.

Ok. Thanks again Rokas for this very clear explanation.

So the Probability Map just adds some kinds of noise to the bitmap?

Ok. Thanks again Rokas for this very clear explanation.

So the Probability Map just adds some kinds of noise to the bitmap?

Activating "Probability Map" option uses a map to define a probability amount for the random range defined by the Min/Max values. Scatter objects in black areas of the map will not be randomised, objects in white areas will receive a value selected from the full range.

All the details in our Documentation page.
