auto forest???
« on: May 22, 2014, 03:57:48 PM »
i have a file that has about 20 different plant types in vray proxy form
a hundred or so of these plant types are specifically placed in a template file
i'd like to make this into a forest object
is there a script or a way forest could be made from these automatically? basically recognizing that there are 20 types and then placing forest trees in their place at the correct  position scale and rotation?
thanks!

You would use Tree Editor->Creation Tools->Reference Objects to create one item for each proxy, copying rotation and scale.
Unfortunately there is not a procedure to assing the type of plant, that must be done manually.

Yes, there is an interface to create items on Custom Edit mode. It's described briefly here. The common parameters are also exposed to Maxscript, you can check them using showproperties $.

If you need help with some specific value, please tell me.
