Choppy scatter on slope
« on: March 28, 2016, 10:19:38 PM »
I searched the forums but I couldn't find a solution for this. Partly because I wasn't sure what terms to search for. Please see attachment for visual of the issue. Maybe it is a density issue. You can see the stepping in the scatter going up the slope. This is only evident on slopes going up opposite the camera. If you were looking down a hill, it would look fine. Hopefully this makes sense.

Hi,

I would suggest you to check the Direction settings under Surface tab (probably is actually set to 100). In case of large clumps I would recommend you to set it to Surface's Normal (0). Also, specially for these purposes, you can take advantage of Scale to fit sloped area feature. You can find more about these setting in our on-line reference guide.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,

Thank you Michal. That was indeed the issue for that particular model. I have the same problem with this view but the directions settings are as you suggest...

Hi,

Looks like used grass patches are too big for such surface and even facing to terrain normal and scaling them accordingly doesn't fix such look.

Using smaller clumps on problematic areas should fix it. I would suggest you to activate the Slope Range limit for that Forest object and make a copy of it. Within this second Forest object use smaller patches / detailed preset to cover the rest of the Slope Range. Attaching screenshots showing such work-flow. Hope you'll find it useful.

Best regards,
