Colour variation on element
« on: July 17, 2012, 11:13:25 AM »
Hi, I wonder if someone could help?

I have been trying to create some bushes with some variation in leaf colour across each proxy. There is a multi material applied with 4 sub materials. 1 for the bark and 3 different leaves. Within each leaf map I have added a forest colour map and withing that 2 colour variations. I have set the ID to element in order for variation in each bush. What seems to be happening is that it is varying the colour in each face rather that element. I have attached an image of a test scene with exagerated colours if anyone has an idea of what I am doing wrong please advise.

Thankyou

Please, try using a standard mesh instead a proxy. The tint by element is not supported on proxies.

thanks,

Will render time or memory consumption be effcted by using a standard mesh instead of a proxy?

No, because Forest converts internally all objects to instances of VRay.

You can read here a technical discussion about the difference between using proxies and meshes in Forest/RailClone:
