converting instances to forest pro?

hi everyone-
i'm new to this forum and am VERY excited  and i'm starting off with a 13,000 hectare (50sqmiles) site.
my first question/post of many is this.

i have a 1000 or so placed instances that i want to remain. however i want to use forest pro to vary them. can forest pro convert instances to a custom forest object? the reverse of insticate?

Yes, you can use "Tree Editor->Creation Tools->Reference Object->Pivot", to create the items taking the position, rotation and scale of the existing instances.

Once created, probably you will like to randomize them and reset their size. To do this, select all the items and click "Random ID" and "Reset Size" (also in the Tree Editor rollout).
