ROTATING GROUPED OBJ AS ONE ITEM
« on: February 13, 2017, 10:36:53 PM »
Hi,

I can't seem to find how to rotate grouped objects as one item.
So you can keep the control over for ex trees, when they have vraydispl applied (making merging impossible?)
I remember Paul mentioning and presenting this in a live example at the SOA convention in Venice, but can't seem to find how.
Has this implemented in the mean time?

Thanks
Pieter

Hi Pieter,

It's possible to handle these objects in mulitple Forest object with the same settings (also for the General - Random Seed value) - the easiest way would be to make a copy of the Forest object and reassign the Custom Object (for example to have one Forest objects for trunks with the VRayDisplacementMod applied and another for the rest of the tree).

Another possible way (in my opinion more flexible), would be to handle the displacement within the used material for these objects (instead of using the VRayDisplacementMod modifier) - this way you can merge all parts together (where just the trunk material will use the Displacement slot).

Hope that helps.

Best regadrs,
