Crash!
« on: December 30, 2025, 08:48:19 pm »
What a nightmare. Everything in  Forest Pack Pro crashes. I can't open a file I worked on yesterday, or any Forest Pack file. I have a deadline! I can't even start over placing my Forest Pack trees and buses.

Removed, rebooted, reinstalled, and still can't use FP.

I reinstalled Windows and reinstalled everything - what a pain. Again, the Railclone download is insanely slow. I have 400Mb down, and over an hour in, and am 40% complete.

FYI - Forest Pack Pro took three hours.  I understand there is a lot of data, but other libraries I've used are larger and took about 20 minutes to download. One thought is to allow us to use MAX while files are being downloaded, kind of like MAX does with its plugins.

I apologize for the inconveniences.
Probably the crash was caused by a faulty version of the Microsoft redistributable, as reported here.

Regarding the download speed, i just done a complete reinstallation of libraries here, and speed seems fine. It required less than 5 minutes.
Our servers are located at EU, so download speed may change depending of your location.

For next times, i suggest to assign a path at Update Manager->File->Preferences->Packages Cache.
That creates a copy of the packages in the specified folder. It can be used to perform a reinstallation without downloading the packages again.

We have not tested it, but i guess it would be possible to download the packages while Max is running.
Just close Update Manager in the installation, launch Max, and then run Update Manager to continue the download.

Why all of a sudden? I reinstalled Windows, MAX, FFP, and it is still crashing. I am installing the suggested update now. I did install a script, but the developer said nothing in his script can crash MAX or affect FFP. The script is DisplacementManager
