Suggestion : negative offset in areas spline control
« on: July 14, 2017, 01:01:27 PM »
In the Area/falloff menu, I've always thought that it would be anice addition to allow negative values (in scene untis) in both density & scale include/exclude paramteters.

Then, it would also allow allow the edge mode to use size boundary checking and not point a for special case uses (since the size of the "expanded" falloff would still overlap the initial spline used to evaluate the edge clipping)

Hi, i'm afraid it's not possible to implement negative values, because the scattering algorithm takes only items within the spline.
But positions with negative offset are located out of the area, and therefore are ignored.

To implement this feature, it should be necessary to generate internally a "fake" offset spline . Too complex, and also would cause problems because self-intersections (a common issue with offset splines).
