Title: Crossing Splines
Post by: BK8837 on February 12, 2018, 11:17:27 PM
I selected a spline to exclude in the AREAS section. But how do I exclude the items in the intersection of the splines???

By The way the splines are a single object.

Hi Alex,

Because of the way how the algorithm is evaluating Include & Exclude Spline Areas, intersections of “open” Exclude Splines might be considered as Include Area(s).

By using “closed” splines (like modify your spline by the Outline tool etc.) you would avoid this kind of troubles.

Optionally, an easy fix might be creating a volume based on such spline (like by the Editable Spline > Rendering > Enable in Viewport, adjusting the profile and applying the Edit Poly modifier or in a very similar way by Extrude & Shell modifiers).

Hope that helps.

Best regards,

This is a case of two negatives making a positive... exclude + exclude =  include..

To make it work

1) Create the plane

2) Instead of converting the inner lines of the plane to a single, convert each horizontal batch of 3
and each vertical batch of 3 into separate splines (see image)

3) Now add all of them as individual exclude splines (see image) adjusting their thickness parameter to suit, 50 in this example

and there you have it (see image)
