Title: custom distribution map
Post by: barry john on July 28, 2015, 12:12:36 PM
Hi
I am using a custom distribution map to control the position of the the forest over a surface but i am not getting comparable feedback from the viewport compared to the render.
The trees are in the correct position over the surface and in the viewport they are about the correct number of trees but when they are rendered there are to many.

my distribution map is 4000 pixels square

Any help will be most appriciated

Thanks

Hi,

That's most probably related to your Density (http://docs.itoosoft.com/display/FORESTPACK/Distribution+Map#DistributionMap-Density) value (raising it should fix your issue). As I'm not sure how your Distribution Map (http://docs.itoosoft.com/display/FORESTPACK/Distribution+Map#DistributionMap-Image) is looking, let me attach some examples with different Density values for the same Distribution Map, when used on Surface Area (http://docs.itoosoft.com/display/FORESTPACK/Areas#Areas-SurfaceAreaProperties) (I'm using a procedural Tiles map, but same logic is applicable for any bitmap).

To archive optimal performance, the number of items is limited by the Max items parameter under Display - Viewport. For that reason render may differ if that limit is reached and not all items are shown in the viewport. As this value is editable, please feel free to raise it.

Hope you'll find it useful.

Best regards,
