Old Presets
« on: March 29, 2022, 02:44:44 PM »
Hi,
In previous versions there was a lotus and lily pad presets which we could scatter on water bodies. It seems tohave disappear lately from few upgrades any idea how to make similar presets or use both of them separately and make it look as if the lily pad is below the lotus flower because as of now i am not successful in doing it
Below are some reference attached
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The assets should still be available in the 3D > Flowers and Grass library.

You could do something like the attached to combine them. I've used clustering to group them together and adjusted the probability so there are fewer flowers.

I hope that helps,
Paul

Thanks Paul.
This cluster that you made was available as a preset in previous version, recent versions have individual parts.
Thanks for the .max file,I will study it and apply the same method for my project.
One more thing to ask, how to apply forest color to this entire cluster so that there is a bit of color variation

Huge thanks once again.

Hi!

It looks as though those assets already have Forest Colour maps applied with random colour variations already set up.

Just in case you use other assets though, the process to quickly add variations would be as follows:

1 - Go to the Materials rollout in Forest Pack and click Optimise Materials
2 - Make sure that add Forest Colour maps is enabled
3 - Click Optimise.
4 - You can now add colour variations using the Tint Gradient and Random Strength parameters.

I hope that helps,

Paul

Thanks a lot Paul, the tip was of great help.
I can now give color variations to the geometry.
Also the cluster thing can you just elaborate a bit (the steps), i am a bit lost and not able to produce the same output as you have, in the given file.
Thanks and sorry for taking your time

HI,

I might tackle this in today's live stream since I think the combination of collisions, distribution, probability and clustering will be of interest to others.

Cheers,

Paul

No problem Paul, Might be next live stream you can pick this topic up. I think it would benefit lots of artist. What say?

Thanks Paul for taking this into consideration, also take up Forest color also in the discussion as many times it is difficult to change the color when there are 5-6 models in the list which has flowers in it and to change the back and front material of every model applying forest color is a task, unless there is a simple way and one click workflow which i am not aware of
Thanks again.
