Title: Deleting/removing 1 tree from FP object
Post by: Richard Birket on November 09, 2010, 12:23:46 PM
I have created an FP object which is a number of 3D trees scattered within a closed polyline. One of the trees is in a bad position and needs to be removed, but I don't want to affect all the other trees which are fine and have already had post production photoshop work done to them.

How do I remove one tree without affecting all others?

You can move individual trees changing the edition mode to "Custom Edit", in the Tree Editor rollup. Please see the video tutorial about manual editing on this page:

We've tried this (the first thing we tried), but the positions of all trees suddenly change!

What Forest version are you using ? Please, send us a stripped version of your project to support@itoosoft.com

Alternatively, you can create an exclude spline around the tree you want to remove.

Ok, it's not needed that you send us the scene. We just found the problem: the distribution changes switching to Custom Edit mode if the Spline, Camera or Surface falloffs are used. The bug is already fixed and will be included in Forest 3.3.6b.

That's good. When will it be available as we have a live job...

It be available in the next days. Anyways, because the changes introduced, the distributions generated by 3.3.6b (objects, randomness, colors...) may change slightly from previous Forest versions, so in this case it's better to use the exclude spline trick.
