different result in interactive vs production
« on: July 14, 2022, 09:45:09 AM »
I'm trying to make some green pavers using rail clone and forest pack. All was good until I hit render. In interactive mode the results were as expected but as soon as I switch to production (progressive or bucket) the results are wrong (the grass is growing through the pavers).
The setup is pretty basic. The concrete pavers are scattered using RC. and this RC object is used as an exclude geometry for the grass.
If I copy the RC, turn it to poly and use that as an exclude geometry it seems to be working... so I'm not sure if this is a FP or RC issue.

I'm using:
RC 5.1.2
FP 7.3.1
Max 2022.3.3
Vray 5.20.02 (build 00001)

Try set RC Display to Mesh mode or set a higher resolution for FP -> Area -> Excluded Rc

It always used to be the case that you'd need to disable the instancing engine to use RailCone as an Exclude area in Forest Pack. Could be for some reason this wasn't required when using IPR mode (not sure why though), but try that and see if it helps.

Disabling the instancing engine seems to fix the issue. Thanks for the quick response Paul!
