Distribute along path + distribute via map
« on: November 26, 2018, 07:27:13 AM »
The new path distribution is a great improvement on the old method, but I want to know if it is possible to combine this distribution method with items by map color ID distribution?
Ill try to describe what I am trying to do:
I have 4 different tree species (four pieces of geometry), and I distribute along paths (distribution type = path),
I then want to drive the species based on a colored bitmap with 4 different color zones (match Color ID on map). Unfortunately, this isn't an option as unless you are using image-distribution mode.
This feels like the kind of thing that would be possible with the new Effects tools, (maybe smooshing parts of the library's 'Density by Map' script mixed with 'Change items by altitute' scripts???).
Unfortunatly, my level of understanding the new Effects tools and scripting is VERY limited. Does this sound possible? Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Have been playing a bit with it... but not getting any further.
The workaround is to have four different forests and four different bitmaps and using the 'density by map' Effect.
Would be great if there was something a little more scientific.

I am afraid but currently this is not possible.
Added to our development list.
