[New Feature] Hide behind Object
« on: May 15, 2014, 10:38:06 PM »
I'm using Forest Pro very frequently and have idea how it would be easier with the new feature.

It would act like "limit to camera visibility" but instead of out of view borders Forest Elements would hide behind the object that is in front of grass looking from specified camera.

Maybe attached images would show better what I'm after ;)

For now I'm doing this by drawing the exclusion spline according to every camera, but if we could get it automated it would be brilliant! ;)

It would make scenes "lighter" for GPU rendering users, thus saving the VRAM during rendering.

Is it hard feature to achieve?  ;)

I'm afraid this feature would be extremely complex. There is not a simple algorithm to detect what items are behind a geometry.
Usually this is done by the render engine, using raytracing and other costly processes. We cannot do it in the scattering phase.
