Reference object creates double objects
« on: June 22, 2017, 09:29:06 PM »
Hi All,
(I have had this problem in the past when custom editing I find double objects exactly on top of each other.)
When i try and place items in the tree editor on reference objects i get doubles (see pic)....
Maybe a simple option I am neglecting?
Max 2017
FP 5.3.2

thanks!!

Hi,

That's related to the "triangulation" of these polygons. You may find useful the Distribute Using - Pivot option. Attaching screen-shots.

Thanks Michal.

It works with newly created Splines in max.

The problem now is with our imported lines from Rhino. The FP objects all go to the original pivot of the joined objects when the were one despite making sure the origins are central to the guide objects.

Any Idea what i'm doing wrong?

thanks!

Hi,

In case, these splines are attached under one object, I would suggest you to Detach all of them into separate object (you might find script like the ExplodeSpline handy for this task), align Pivot Points if necessary and also applying the Reset XForm utility would be recommendable to ensure that all transforms will be "reset". Hope that helps.

Ah yes! I  tried all as described previously. The reset xform was the key.
Works like a charm!

Thanks!
