Does ForestMaterial support in V-Ray?
« on: May 13, 2015, 09:21:23 AM »
There is a question of "Random Tint of ForestMaterial does not work by V-Ray?" frequently from our customer.

Of course, it explains "using ForestColorMap."
But is there any plan to support ForestMaterial(Random Tint) by V-Ray?

Thanx

All features are supported in V-Ray, including Forest Color.
Are you sure they mean V-Ray and not V-Ray RT ?  With RT is a different issue, it doesn't support Forest Color and other advances features. You can find the technical details here.

It is not RT.

V-Ray is supporting Random Tint of ForestMaterial? (Forest Color is not used)
It is not supported in my confirming. (V-Ray 3.0 + 3dsMax 2015)

Yes, V-Ray is supported for Random Tint, although this feature requires Forest Material or Forest Color.
Usually Forest Material is used for billboards (applied as a material), and Forest Color for 3D objects (applied as a texture map).

If you send us a sample scene, we would check what is the problem exactly.

At V-Ray, random tint does not work by billboards. :-\

(of course  does not work by 3d object )

Thanks for the scene, now i see the problem. This should work, but it does not in V-Ray 3.0 and above (2.0 works fine).
We have sent a request to ChaosGroup team. From our side everything seems correct, but probably we're missing something.

I apologize for any inconvenience.
