objects with vray displacment
« on: July 17, 2016, 04:15:21 PM »
Im trying to use forrestpack with few objects with vray displacement on them but displacement doesn't show when rendered. So I applied vray disp on top of forrest pack and then forest pack disappeared in viewport but displacement rendered :). Is there any workaround so is shows in viewport?

You can make modifier off in viewport

But for me it doesn`t work to add vraydisp modifier on top on forestpack object.

Hi,

Unfortunately that's a limitation of the render engine: VRay's Displacement cannot be applied to instances or proxies (by using VRayDisplacementMod / Displace map within the VRayMtl applied on distributed items). Instead you can apply a standard 3ds max's "Displace" modifier to the source object. Just take in account that all scattered items will have the same displacement, since they are instances of an unique geometry.

Best regards,
