Edge mode (Vray) doesn't seem to work
« on: May 25, 2016, 04:51:37 PM »

I'm just trying out the edge mode using vray for grass edges, but I can't get it to work.

Followed this tutorial but I am getting no difference in renders from point or edge.

I don't even get a preview if I ctrl click the edge radio button as the docs describe.

The mesh is just a spline with a shell on top, I have tried collapsing the mesh but still the same problem.

Using Forest 5.05 and Vray 3.30.05

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Instead Shell, please try applying a UVW Map modifier to the spline. Shell modifier creates a double set of faces (up and down), and this type of surface cannot be evaluated correctly by the Edge algorithm.

I suggest you take a look to this FAQ entry. It describes the requirements to use a surface with Edge Mode.

I hope that helps.
