Title: Edge mode, alpha problem
Post by: Dean on April 16, 2015, 02:11:49 PM
Hello,

I have  a problem with the new edge mode. If you see the attachments, the edge is affecting the alpha, and other channels, in a bad way. It almost looks like a mix between the normal mode, and edge mode, and the difference is being made black / affecting the channels.

Does anyone know what might be happening?

Thanks,
Dean

Hi,

These artefacts could be caused by exceeding V-Ray's transparency limit (as mentioned in this related post (http://forum.itoosoft.com/index.php?topic=2748.msg10451#msg10451)). There are two possible ways, how to avoid that troubles:

a) Use lower density values, increasing Distribution Map -> Density X/Y Size.
b) Under V-Ray render settings, increase Global switches -> Max transp. levels (default value is 50). Sometimes may be necessary to modify Secondary rays bias also.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,

Thanks, the max transparency seems to have sorted the problem. It might be worth adding that to the end of the video tutorial, or adding some notes, as I would have never thought about tweaking the max transparency.

Anyway, thank you!
