Title: edge mode problems
Post by: filip on April 02, 2015, 05:01:25 PM
Hello,

I am trying to apply the edge mode to my scatteret patch of grass,
it worked on the even surface,
now it works in preview only, when I hit the radio button with the ctrl,

since I applied my FP grass to uneven surface - one clean polygonal object with shape merge cutouts, the edge mode does not work anymore...
simplified scene here (http://ulozto.net/xKRPgzUb/grass-edge-mode-zip).

could you help me please?
thanks,

F

Hi, sincerely i needed a while to realize the problem: Edge mode is not supported for proxies, but we currently are not checking this from Points-cloud mode (it uses its own geometry).

Just use a standard mesh for the clump grass, that will solve the problem. We'll update the documentation and modify Points-cloud mode to handle this case.

I just got the same Problem here, using VRay Proxies as grass patches.

Will that be solved so edgemode will work with proxies ?

No, sorry. We have not plans to support Edge mode for proxies. There are technical limitations because the nature of this format.

I guessed that. Thanks for the fast and clear answere.

Proxys are a kind of dead end in terms of modifying the geometry. We are heavy using proxys in all projects for several objects.
I just setup the grass with XrefObjects of EditMesh and checked the edgemode preview.
All works fine and the meshes stay outsourced that way.

Thanks for fastes support ever !
