Just wondering if there is an ETA on the Forest Pro 9 Beta or if you plan to make Forest Pro 8 compatible with 3ds Max 2025?
-
I apologize fo the delay. Forest 9 was almost ready, but we had to add support for Max 2025, and that triggered new problems which must be solved.
We are actively working on that, but we cannot give an ETA until these issues are addressed.
We have not plans for a Forest 8 for Max 2025. Because FP9 includes many changes which are not in the FP8 code.
That would require double work, delaying more the release.
-
Thanks for info. I am very much looking forward to the new FP. Probably most of all new Ivy. But I'll be surprised :-)
-
is there a roadmap for FP9 or some notes on what to expect?

We usually don't share release notes until everything is ready. It would be changes in the last minute.
But i can confirm it will include a new Ivy plugin, which was shown in our latest QA (https://www.youtube.com/live/BK-qAvVMqmU?si=N3jv9shuf7tHWgo9&t=408).
-
Is there a nightly version we can use for 2025 until the final stable version is out? Thanks!
-
No, sorry. We have not nightly builds.
-
This is not good. Doesn't Autodesk keep developers in the loop so plugins can be ready for MAX updates? I just moved over to MAX 2025. Didn't it come out two months ago?

Autodesk provides us a beta version so we can update our plugins, but they don't announce the final release date.
Unfortunately this time we were too busy with other tasks, and had not time to prepare the upgrade until the last minute (a poor excuse, i know... but it's the reality).
With Max 2025, the release coincided with the latest stages of Forest 9, so we had to work on both tasks simultaneously.
Futhermore, this Max build requires some internal changes, so we are applying them to the Forest 9 code, keeping the Forest 8 branch in hold.
Said that, the core of Forest 9 for Max 2025 is already finished. We're working now in the ForestIvy models for the library, installer, and other auxiliary tasks.
On parallel, we're preparing RailClone for 2025. Our plan is to release both plugins simultaneously.
I hope everything is ready in the next days.
-
Awesome and great news!

Wooow awesome, thanks for the hardwork
-
Keep up the good work!
As many others, looking forward to the new version with 3ds max 2025 support.
-
Days have turned into a week. Are we getting close? Of course, it is better to wait for a working copy them to rush it.
-
Yes, we are very close.
We only need to make some adjustments to the Ivy samples, and prepare the Update Manager packages.

I check every day with excitement to see if it is already available ;D

Both Forest and RailClone beta (https://forum.itoosoft.com/announcements/forest-pack-9-beta-with-max-2025-support-forestivy-and-more/) are live. Enjoy it !

I have been playing with the ivy plugin for about an hour now and i am SHOCKED. By far the best ivy generator I have used, and it's so simple to set up. Incredible work and thanks for this!
-
Ivy generator looks really awesome!! Nice to play with. I have to look more into it. Try custom leaves and so on.
But will you share other changes in Forest Pack itself so we can test it? Or is the ivy generator the only changeM Thank you.
-
Downloading now. Thank you!
-
Thanks for your feedback. We're glad you enjoy ForestIvy !
I moved posts related to FP9 to the Beta forum (https://forum.itoosoft.com/forest-pro-beta/).
Please, post all issues and suggestions there.

There are many changes and improvements to the Forest plugin as well, it's not only ForestIvy.
You can check them in the release notes (https://forum.itoosoft.com/announcements/forest-pack-9-beta-with-max-2025-support-forestivy-and-more/).
-
Sorry but how do we download the beta version?

Sorry but how do we download the beta version?
You can download it from User panel->Beta versions (https://secure.itoosoft.com/userpanel/betas.php).
Please note you must have a Forest Pack Pro license with active maintenance plan.
If your maintenance plan expired, it can be renewed from the Panel (https://secure.itoosoft.com/userpanel/maintenance_plan) as well.
-
Will previous versions of FP like v8.2.4 be made compatible with 3dsmax 2025?
-
No, sorry. FP9 includes many changes to provide compatibility for Max 2025.
Applying these changes to FP8 would require double work.
-
We are having some troubles with version 9.0.4
We might be doing something wrong but when trying the ForestIvy, no leaves apear when using the 2 presets that come with it.
Branching seems fine and aging as well.
-
Could you try updating the libraries via update manager too (if you haven't already done so). We had to re-export them for compatibility with this release.
If that doesn't help, you may find you can simply enable the leaves in the Leaves and Flowers rollout

I hope that helps,
Paul.

Updating Forest to the latest version solved the problem.
Thank you,

The plugins are completed, but we continue working on the ForestIvy library and the auxiliary software.
Unfortunately we cannot give you a release date.
If you are in hurry to use Max 2025, you can use beta versions safely.
There will be few differences with the final release.
-
Three + months later, and a stable version isn't ready?
-
No, i'm sorry. FInal version is not ready yet.
As said, the plugins are stable, but we must complete the ForestIvy library and other tasks.
-
No worries—the beta is working great. I am just surprised when I go to get the stable and see nothing available.
