How to use the fake shadow of board card trees in VraySun?
Hello everyone,
I am making a very very large aera of forest with board card templete("one plane tree"). But the fake shadows seamed not work in VraySun. And we had a Light rig to simulate GI with about 30 default spotlight around the scene.
What are the right steps of using the fake shadows of board card trees in VraySun and other Vray light ?
I didn't turn on GI in this scene. I used fake GI.
Please show me an example max scene, and show me step by step.
Thank you very much.

Hi,

When using V-Ray renderer, the Raytrace mode will be used for Fake Shadows (XShadow works exclusively with the Scanline renderer) and the light which casts raytraced shadows needs to be selected (VRaySun).

Let me mention, that raytraced shadows require Forest Material to work, because this plugin does the job of hiding or rendering the shadow / texture for each plane. Be sure that the material applied to the Forest object uses the Forest Material as a base.

Attaching a sample scene showing this set-up. Hope you'll find it useful.

Best regards,
