Render to Texture
« on: December 13, 2014, 11:55:35 AM »
Hello everyone,

i was working on an project recently, where i wanted to bake the ambient occlusion of some rocks, distributed by forest pack to a plane, using mental ray.
Sadly i had no luck, mental ray stated this error message: PHEN 0.9    383 MB error: Render to Texture: Failed to create acceleration structure (unkown error).
Tried the following steps, to narrow down the issue:
- renderering an AO pass through the camera with an occlusion material as a global overrider which gives a nice occlusion picture of the rocks and plane
- rendering with a standard material as an overrider - no luck same error
maby someone run into a simmilar issue and can give me some clues on how to get this issue fixed....

best regards, an greetings from vienna ...

Markus

Hi,

Would you please try to disable the Use Placeholder Objects option under Render Setup - Processing - Translator Options - Memory Options? That should fix the issue. There will be a Warning window with suggestion to enable that option, but please ignore it and select No, as the Render to Texture process is slightly different.

Hope that helps you, but in case of any troubles with it, please let us know.

Kind regards,
