Follow Displace Surface (VRay)
« on: January 14, 2022, 05:56:15 PM »
Hello,

this is a well known problem which I thought was solved by now.

Anyway, I followed this guide:
https://www.itoosoft.com/tutorials/scattering-on-displaced-geometry

However, applying the effect only causes the objects to be adjusted overall in height.
The height differences of the (displ map) surface are not adopted.

What am I missing here?

Cheers

Now, It is not working for me either  :o
I don`t know if my test was done on some previous version of FP but it could be at least one or maybe two before 7.3 because I try to keep up.

Well, that is unfortunate.
Thanks for trying, though.
This one was done in FP 7.2.1

I will give it another try using the latest update 7.3.0.

UPDATE:
The effect is also not functional in version 7.3.0 (at least not on my workstation in 3ds max 2022)

Any ideas?

UPDATE 2.0:
It works.
It depends on which type (2D / 3D) of the VRayDisplacementMod is used.
However, in order to use a procedural map, it must be set to explicit map channel.
