Title: Forest Color Get Color from Map Problem
Post by: EM3498 on December 20, 2013, 11:32:08 PM
Hello
I'm trying to randomize color of forest objects ( editable mesh 5 boxes ) by map used on surface,
I want colors to be exaclly like on surface, not randomly applied.
My problem is that when i turn on "get color from Map" next "as texture on surface" and next "variation by element" exact colors are only applied to whole items/objects, not to elements.
I want to be able to put exact colors from surface map to each element of object used in forest.
How to do that?
It's interesting that when i turn on "get color from Map" next "random values" and next "variation by element" colors are randomly placed to elements of objects.
But i dont want colors to be randomly placed from surface map to elemets
I want colors to be placed to elements  exactly like on surface
I have added pictures to illustrate this situation.

Best Regards
Greg

Unfortunately "get color from map" doesn't work with elements, only with items. We tried to implement it some time ago, but there are certain technical limitations.

I just realized this issue is not described in the documentation. I apologize by that, we'll add a note about it.

Thank you for info

Do you think it is possible to add this feature in future builds?
I will be very usefull in many situations, when we must have exact surface colors on objt=ect used in forest, and don't want to make those objects very small/ explode to single elements

Best

I'm afraid it will not be possible. There are several technical restrictions for this feature that we cannot solve.
