forest edge doesn't seem to be working
« on: November 28, 2024, 10:45:45 PM »
3ds max 2025.3
Corona 12 update 1
Forest 9.1.5

It seems like forest edge is broken.
I don't know if it's Max, corona or forest.
See attached a screenshot and the 3d file with a simple cylinder with forest edge in opacity, and a scatter of it with a rectangle in edge mode.

Could you try to replicated this?
Thank you.

In our tests Edge mode works as expected, as shown in the attached image (Max 2025, FP 9.1.6, Corona 12 update 1).

Please note that Edge mode doesn't cut the geometry, just exclude mesh elements from render. But a cylinder has a single mesh element, so Edge mode has not any effect.
I suggest you test it with one of the grass 'large' presets, from the Forest library.

Can you try doing this below? It doesn't seem to be working with a new start of interactive rendering

I cannot reproduce it with my test scene, but this issue would happen ocasionally with Forest Color/Forest Edge when using interactive rendering.

It's caused by a desynchronization between the Forest object and the data stored in Color/Edge.
Unfortunately Max was not designed to work with interactive renders, and there are some technical limitations such this.
Normally restarting the render, or modifying the Forest object fixes it.
