Being a customer for quite some years, downloading the cool updates of both Forest and RailClone I still meet the wall of hassle when I need to update - and the same question always come to my mind -WHY???!!
Why is the installation made so you have to save all the library stuff on the same drive as the plug-in??? I know it can be moved afterwards, but it still gives some irritating waste of time that I each and every time must do this procedure.
Yes, I can go into advanced settings and set a custom path for installation of the plug-in - but not for the library stuff, that takes up most of the space in the installation. Most users use SSD drives as their main-drives - for programs - but since they still are limited in size (for a civil price) we all try to save the space for the "important things" - the programs and plug-ins. Library stuff is just a waste of space on these drives. Even if you are not running in a workstation / Node setup - most people have dedicated program drives and data/library drives.
Having to move the stuff to the file (data) server for every installation / update - resetting ini files and Windows Registry every time I update, is really a waste of time.
The installation should ask separately for a path for the library stuff - or maybe the library stuff should be a total separate installation??
If we are talking updates - the installation should really be able to read the users current path setup - ask for a confirmation if this is how you want it for the update - and that's it.
If I have misunderstood something, I am sorry - and would like to hear how I can make this work, - because I haven't found anything about this in the documentation - and believe me, I check it everytime I install an update.
If not, you should really take this into consideration for future updates!!!
Thanks
