Forest obj by polygon material ID
« on: June 06, 2014, 11:47:06 AM »
Hi,

I'm working on some projects and I'd like to use a forest object on a larger plane.
The plane defines the terrain and so there are different regions, each with a different material (&multisub material)
So my question is the following: can I setup my forest object so that when applied to the surface, it only shows on polygon mat id x?
This would be a great benifit cause when I edit my terrain, I don't have to go into each spline and start editing them to match the changes to the terrain surface.
I'm using vrayPattern for my larger area's, often I add in some variation with forest. VP uses these polygon id's so it would be a great help if my forest objects would match this.

Thanks in advance

No, sorry. This functionality is not possible in the current version.
We tried to implement it some time ago, but was not possible because limitations in the Forest workflow. I'll add it to the wishlist, and we'll take a look again.
