Forest object offset from geometry at creation
« on: May 02, 2012, 03:13:05 AM »
Hello. I'm having trouble with creating a forest object in one of my scenes. When I create (by clicking on the surface) the forest appears offset from the surface object.

To test this, I started a new scene and made a forest on a plane, which worked. Then I opened my project scene and merged in the working forest and surface, and it became offset.

I'm including a graphic to better demonstrate what is happening.

Any ideas what could cause this?

Does it change clicking the "Reload" button in the "Surface" rollout ?, And clicking "Display->Update" ?

I cannot reproduce this problem here. Please, send us a test scene to check it. Tell me also what Forest and Max version are you using.

Hi,

The distribution itself is correct – as you can double check for example by assigning any Custom Object – or changing the Template used (to for example a Simple 3D Tree). For some reason (might be, you’ve moved accidentally its Pivot Point), the One Plane Template object, isn’t correctly aligned – to fix it, you can delete all content from the forest_templates layer, which will be recreated automatically.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,
