Align Object Along Path
« on: February 28, 2014, 12:41:09 PM »
Hi!
I've red in previous post (date 2012) that to align an object along a path only the Creation Tools-->Along Path is available, it doesn't allow a sort of random distance between an instance and the other, at the same time an open spline like distribution area allows it but doesn't allow align to path.

I wonder if in this new version or in the new release will be available the ability to scatter a geometry along a path, align to it, and have a random distance accordly with the distribution map.

Thanks in advance.

Ps
In my particualar case I need to scatter along a long long road geometry, a lot of cars.
I suppose I will scatter a dummy object with Creation Tools-->Along Path, with an external script I will select randomly some of them and then with the Creation Tools-->Reference Object I wiil place the cars.

Ehm.. it's possible to export  distributed instances in separated editable objects?

Once scattered the items with Creation Tools, you can apply a random translation using the Transform rollout, but the displacement is added to X/Y coordinates, not following the path.

I'm afraid this is a too specific feature for Forest. In this case i would suggest to use RailClone, which is more suited for this task.

Yes, using Forest Tools.
