Forest Pack and V-ray Next with 3ds Max 2022?
« on: April 05, 2025, 06:08:36 am »
About to configure/finish the PC I've been saving up for several years.
Will have 3ds Max 2020 and 2022 with V-ray Next.  Forest Pack Pro V8 and Rail clone.
Has the issue been resolved so V-ray Next works with Forest Pack and 3ds Max 2022?

Thank you.

We suggest you use the latest Forest and RailClone updates (FP 9.1.9 and RC 6.4.0), which support all V-Ray versions, from 3.x to 7.x.
We cannot guarantee that Forest 8 works with V-Ray Next, since this version was released some time ago. We have released many updates since then.

Ok thank you.  I will buy the new Forest pack pro and Railclone.
I forgot.  I have 2 fully GUI 3ds Max machines and 2 machines that are only render nodes.
Only 1 full GUI V-ray next and 3 V-ray next render nodes.
How many Forest Pack and Rail clone licenses do I need if I am able to get all 4 machines connected for network distributed render?
Currently I think I have 1 or 2 Forest pack 8 and rail clone licenses (I'll have to look it up).
I haven't had an time the last few years but now that I got this new machine put together I want to start doing 3d stuff

Does FP 9 and new rail clone also work with 3ds Max 2016 and 2020?
I am going to try to move those over from my oldest machine to my new best machine if possible due to plugin reasons I need 2016 for some things
Don't know if Autodesk will let me activate anything below 2022 though.

You need a license for each 3DS Max used on interactive mode (handled by an human operator).
Non interactive nodes, as Backburner or Distributed render don't require a license. The setup program includes a specific option for render nodes.
You can find detailed information in our Purchasing and Licensing FAQ.

Currently our plugins are compatible with 3DS Max from 2013 to 2025 (and 2026 very soon).
For license resctrictions we cannot provide support for versions below 2022 (Autodesk doesn't provide us licenses for such versions), but plugins work fine.
