Hello Guys,

Im working on a project that i am trying to push the boundaries a little bit more in crowd simulation. I want to achieve very realistic randomization and to mimic more real life crowd team grouping. I am using the forest pack to distribute the chairs and the crowds following splines through the custom edit mode. But its preventing the usage of areas to include different groups or clusters of different teams together as i want to create an area with group of team Nederlands and another area with team of Korea with different dress code etc....

Do you have any tips of how to do that while using the custom edit to follow correctly the seats and splines?

Also if i want to use more than 10 variation of the forest color as im using a lot of variation maps for the cloth can i include more forest color maps inside each forest color map to addd more than 10 variation maps usage etc..... Also if i plugged the same forest color in bump reflection etc... will it follow the same pattern of randomization?

Sorry for the several questions but trying to push the boundaries with this personal project in all aspects :)

Thanks for the amazing tool you have created for us

Best

Hi Karim,

I think the easiest way here will be to break the spline into two parts, one for each team. You're right that at present there isn't a way to easily control items distributed in Tree Editor mode using areas or maps. We are looking to revamp this part of the plugin in forthcoming versions so we'll certainly consider this kind of feature in the new design.

You could also manually select and change items in tree editor mode in case you wanted to gain more control over the distribution and add the odd "rogue" supporter!

You can nest Forest Colour objects but only if they are set to Element mode. The same map index will be used for each Forest Color map whichever slot it's in so you shouldn't have any problems there.

Thanks for the kind words, I look forward to seeing how you get on. It sounds like an interesting challenge.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Many Thanks,

Paul

Paul,

Thanks so much for your reply, i really appreciate it. I was thinking too of breaking the splines or just maybe creating several forest packs and just delete out of the group. I actually will create a lot of teams not only two so thats why thought to ask if there is an easier way :)

DO you think railclone could give me any better results?

Again thanks so much for all the amazing feedback and quick responses and above all the magical tools you have created for us :)

Will keep you posted when i finalize it. I amtrying to push the boundaries harcore ;)
